Essentially a suburb of Darlington, Cockerton still retains a village feel thanks to its central green, historic Methodist Church and well-preserved cottages.
A highlight of the area is the nature-filled area of Cocker Beck & The Denes. Cocker Beck eventually empties into the River Skerne to the east of Darlington. The waterside pathways make for an enjoyable stroll, and nearby Cocker Beck Nature Reserve features a pond, grasslands and meadows where dragonflies and damselflies often make their homes. Strike out along the Cocker Beck to The Denes, a series of green spaces with play parks and recreation fields.
While you’re in the area, a five minute walk from The Denes will bring you to award-winning French patisserie Robineau Cafe & Patisserie, the place to go for beautifully crafted treats. Perfect for coffee and cake in the afternoon, the café also serves breakfast, light lunches and gorgeous afternoon teas in grand style. You can also catch a glimpse of some of the amazing celebration cakes created by the team and pick up a box of handmade chocolates.
