In an area awash with locomotive history, Saltburn’s Miniature Railway is a particularly engaging attraction. The 15-inch gauge railway has four resident locomotives – Prince Charles, George Outhwaite, Saltburn 150 and Blacklock R – which run from the Cat Nab station along the wooded valley beside Skelton Beck. Journeys take around 15-20 minutes for the return journey and there’s space for two wheelchairs in the modified carriages. Single journey tickets cost £1.50 for adults and 50p for children, and £2/£1 for a return ticket. The railway runs from April-October.
While you’re in the area, the kids can also let off some steam at the Saltburn Valley play park, take a ramble along the wooded paths at Saltburn Valley Gardens and get creative at the woodland centre.
