Blink and you’ll miss it, you’ll likely drive through Eaglescliffe before you’ve noticed it. On the main road from Stockton to Yarm, the village packs a punch for activities and attractions, with a couple of notable eateries too.
Here’s how we’d recommend spending a day in Eaglescliffe…
MORNING
Rise and shine early for a day of exploration at Preston Park Museum and Grounds, where activities include a visit to a tropical winter garden; a fascinating museum chock full of collections which tell the history of the area and the stunning building; and the fun Victorian street, where visitors can visit a sweet shop, meet blacksmiths, policemen, grocers, printers and more to learn about life in Victorian times.
LUNCH
Before setting out on your day of adventure, pay a visit to vegetarian fast food takeaway and sourdough bakery Vvroom, located on Station Road, where you’ll find tasty treats whipped up by excellent neighbouring restaurant The Waiting Room.
VvroomAFTERNOON
There’s no need to leave Preston Park’s grounds for this afternoon’s activity at the magical Butterfly World, a tropical rainforest which is home to beautiful trees, flowers and of course, butterflies. Sit beside the splashing waterfalls and pools and enjoy watching the vibrant wing beats of hundreds of the world’s most exotic and beautiful butterflies. There are also meerkats and reptiles to meet too.
DINNER
Round off your day with a sophisticated meal at Framboisette on Station Road, where you’ll find French, Italian and modern English cuisine alongside signature drinks amid a cosy and relaxed dining space.
