Butterfly World, Preston Park Museum & Grounds, Yarm Road, Eaglescliffe
Enter the magical Tropical Rain Forest at Butterfly World in Preston Park – home to beautiful trees, flowers and of course, butterflies. There are also meerkats and reptiles to meet too.
Teessaurus Park, Riverside Park Road, Middlesbrough
There are many things you may imagine encountering on a walk in Middlesbrough, but dinosaurs probably aren’t top of the list. The former slag heap site on the southern bank of the River Tees is now a 10 acre urban grassland and sculpture park containing a handful of large painted steel sculptures; if you know your triceratops from your stegosaurus, or fancy checking out mammoths or t-rex’s, it makes for a fun wander.
Saltburn Cliff Tramway, Lower Promenade, Saltburn-by-the-Sea
Kids will get a real kick out of a trip on the UK’s oldest water balanced funicular as they travel down to the seaside at Saltburn. The installation has been lovingly refurbished, restoring the Tramway to its former Victorian glory. Both carriages are fully accessible, dog friendly and coach parties and school groups are welcome.
