The popular free Heritage Open Day events run from Friday 8th-Sunday 17th September, and offer a chance to visit unusual and often off-limits properties. The Tees Valley has a wealth of interesting locations and events to check out, here’s a few of our recommendations…

Skinningrove Heritage Walk with Land of Iron
Land of Iron’s experienced guides will take visitors on an absorbing walk around the historic fishing and mining village of Skinningrove. Learn about the remains of mine buildings, Skinningrove’s role in the First and Second World Wars and how the small village became the birthplace of Cleveland’s ironstone mining industry.

Guisborough Priory & Woodland Garden
